Operations Manager

Post Office Credit Union of Maryland

Baltimore, MD

Position Description

Are We the Place for You?
The Post Office Credit Union of Maryland ($32M; Baltimore MD) is seeking a dynamic leader and credit union professional for the role of Operations Manager. This is a great opportunity to join an established credit union with a rich tradition of service.

Originally chartered in 1929, the purpose of the Post Office Credit Union of Maryland (or POCUMD) has remained the same – We are a financial cooperative, organized solely for the promotion of thrift among our members by the accumulation of their savings in small amounts and the lending of such accumulations to our members for provident and productive purposes at a moderate rate of interest. Today, we are committed to providing ease of use and full-service banking to nearly 3,000 members, while we continue to grow and connect meaningfully to our field of membership.

Throughout the years, the name of our credit union has changed, but the board and management of POCUMD remain faithful to the founding philosophies that state "once a member, always a member" and that "we exist for our members and not for profit, not for charity, but for service to our members, the owners, of the Post Office Credit Union of Maryland." At POCUMD, we strive to live up to our motto “We Deliver for You.”

Is This the Career for You?
Reporting to and working closely with the credit union’s President/CEO, the Operations Manager should be well-versed in all aspects of financial institution operations. This includes back-office financial functions as well as front-office member operations. The Operations Manager will contribute to the development, implementation, and achievement of the credit union’s strategic goals. You will be a key contributor, helping to modernize processes and the development of e-services for our members (such as the implementation of E-Docs that members can access/complete away from the branch). Passionate about using data to serve others, the Operations Manager will create strategies that grow membership and engagement, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and operational excellence.

The Operations Manager should be a hands-on collaborator, strategist, and change agent, playing a key role in strategic planning, business plan improvement, and operational effectiveness. The Operations Manager will be a future-focused expert in business processes, inspiring innovation and efficiency. The Operations Manager should be prepared to enable a growth mindset, breaking down siloes, and facilitating critical conversations for change while staying optimistic about the possibilities for the future.
